Object orientation, web technologies, and component-based computing are the most important technologies for commercial software development today. Many of these fields are founded in object-oriented theory and technology -- all are related to object orientation in one way or another. The R&D labs of major companies as well as universities devote a great deal effort to research on hot topics in object orientation. For both the professional developer and the researcher, it is important to keep up with the current state of the art and to anticipate new technologies that might have an impact on future software development.
ECOOP provides a platform for software developers and researchers so that both can benefit from each other. At ECOOP, representatives of industry meet highly distinguished and up-and-coming researchers. While ECOOP traditionally hosts presentations on the very foundations of object orientation, this year's conference particularly welcomes contributions covering experimentally based work.
ECOOP is typically attended by 350 participants and offers exhibition space for exhibitors to showcase their products. Traditionally it also offers the opportunity to demonstrate high-quality products applying modern technology in the demonstration tracks.
